The Process
Solution
Another designer and I brainstormed a solution where the antagonist's story served as the introduction to the codex. We humanized the character by giving him a tragic backstory, including a weakness that made him vulnerable to the temptation of evil. Players connected emotionally, feeling sympathy for him through a ‘revenge tragedy’ narrative.
Solution
I didn’t have time in our scope to switch to a different design program. I changed all the alignments to be unjustified, but it ended up not taking away from the look and feel of the campaign.
Problem
The main antagonist needed to have a backstory that the players felt empathy towards and provide a compelling rationale for his antagonistic transformation.
Problem
The justified alignment, which was initially used to provide a professional style, left awkward spacing between words.
